Digital SMART Meters anD HIGHER BILLS

Large voltage transients resulting from the smart meter’s switch mode power supply (SMPS) operation can be and often are used as the ‘highest peak’ to bill an entire 15-minute period in order to generate usage monthly bills. These voltage transients are electrical noise and not actual usage, but the customer is expected to pay for this wasted voltage anyway as though it was consumption usage. These transients need to be regulated so they are filtered out and customers are not overcharged for the electricity usage. Otherwise, the increased billing acts as an unapproved rate increase.

Bill Bathgate explains how large voltage transients resulting from the smart meter’s switch mode power supply (SMPS) operation can be and often are used as the ‘highest peak’ to bill an entire 15-minute period in order to generate usage monthly bills.
